Goodbye Jessi

Her performance with Pasha was amazing. Her solo was the best of the females that night. And the fact that she did it RIGHT after being in the hospital and diagnosed with a heart condition... *sigh*
I was mad about it for a while, and I've thought about it and come to a few conclusions. But meh. I'm tired. I'm just going to post her performances from last night and let everyone see/remember how amazing she is.
Her first solo disappointed me but this one was great. Probably the best hip-hop performance from a female on the show from all seasons. Also, the song?
"I've got an icebox where my heart used to be..."
I love the way her mind works. She's so brilliant. (Check out 0:37, the way she moves to create a 'box' with her chest is just killer)
Jessi Peralta - Icebox - Final Solo
The next clip was what she was supposed to perform with Pasha on the performance night, but couldn't. She was fierce and worked that dance as good as any latin-ballroom dancer. I also love the way Pasha danced, you could tell by his movement that he was so happy to be dancing with her. I honestly misjudged him, and I think I'm beginning to like him now. He might not be the brightest bulb in the box, but he's got a good heart and is a supportive partner, and I really respect that.
And finally, I'm just posting the moment when she was accepted into the Top 20 (performance show dancers)
Man, it just makes me feel bad for her. If she felt she wasn't good enough before, or that she was too old, imagine how she feels now? She's been diagnosed with a heart condition, and been cut from the competition early. That must be so discouraging. I really hope she doesn't give in and go back to her office job. It'd be a waste of such a brilliant dancer.
Jessi, really, was my favourite on the show. I love almost everyone this season, because there are so many talented dancers and great personalities, but Jessi stood out to me from the beginning. I'm truly unhappy to see her go.

Date: 2007-07-01 12:57 am (UTC)I don't think she has a heart condition. From what she said I think it was just that she was dehydrated, and dehyration can throw the electrolites in your body out of wack, which would make your EKG off. From the way she talked about it, it seems like this has happened to her before, which might be part of the reason that the judges cut her. If she had a known issue before the competition and she didn't tell the producers about it, they might not trust her anymore.
I'm sorry that one of your favourites got cut again, but if you need to talk about it, I'm here. ;D And I'll see you on Wednesday at Lauren's.

That sort of thing is something the producers could have easily capitalized on.
And FOMG, we are SO going to rant about SYTYCD on Wednesday! No one else I know is really into it, so I'm dying to get a chance to talk/squee with you! Can't wait! xDD

Date: 2007-07-01 02:46 am (UTC)Did you see my recap posts over at my journal? I did the Top 20 performance (in 2 parts) and the Top 20 results so far. I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up with the show, and not having a new show this week will probably help me.
I'm totally going to talk your ear off about this show on Wednesday. ;D
